All members of SSAR obtain certifications through the National Association for Search and Rescue (NASAR) which include:
· Lost Person Behavior
· Clue Consciousness
· Search Tactics
· Land Navigation
Members are, at a minimum, CPR/AED/First Aid certified and certified in Incident Command Systems. Additional training and certifications include Crime Scene Recognition and Preservation, Human Remains Detection (land & water), Tactical Search and Rescue for Disasters and Wildland Fire Behavior and Survival.
Our K9s are required, at a minimum, to have Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certification and Obedience Proficiency. In addition, our K9s are trained and certified at a county level and then nationally certified through NASAR, NSDA, NAPWDA and GAK9 in disciplines of Area, Cadaver (land, buried and water), Disaster and Tracking/Trailing.
